Regular maintenance of our ATVs is an important part of our job. That’s why you are able to enjoy your 4wd activity in Playa del Carmen without any worries. We always make sure your ride is in top conditions!
We offer a top notch 4wd activity in Playa del Carmen and conditions of our vehicles are paramount for a safe ride. Our mechanic is very skilled and can repair just about anything and if there is no repair work to be done he is looking for ways to improve things around here. But more about that in another post…
Last week we spent some time at our shop replacing the stator of one of our quad bikes. The ATV wouldn’t start and we soon saw why when we opened it up. Three of the stator coils were burnt…
Wear and tear is quite strong in the area because of the tropical climate and heavy duty of our daily tours. Luckily our mechanic is onto everything. Getting spare parts can also be a challenge as many part need to be shipped from other parts in Mexico or even imported from the US. We always try to have a decent amount of stock of the most common parts. We also have relationships with local and international dealers, so we don’t have to wait too long for replacements.
Luckily we had a replacement in stock and it didn’t take our mechanic long to replace the part. Then we reassemble and we try if the ATV starts…
… and it did! 🙌🙌🏎😎
We are ready for your ATV adventure in Riviera Maya! Are you?
Our quad excursion explores the Mayan Riviera but not before taking us through our local Playa del Carmen neighborhood. Our neighborhood is called “Bellavista” and is a quiet residential area with small restaurants, shops and lots of trees along the way.
Bellavista means “beautiful view”. You can be the judge of that on your quad excursion in the Mayan Riviera 🙂 There are also many trees and blooms along the way mingled with bigger and smaller houses.
Along the way you might also get a glimps of what life is like. On the below picture for example our quad riders pass by a big red water truck which delivers water cans to residential houses.
Tap water is not drinkable in the area, so these trucks drive through the neighborhoods every day selling big 25 litre water cans. You can’t miss them as they have a very distinctive way of shouting their respective water brand name outside of each house. They will exchange your empty cans for full ones. Each 6.6-gallon-can costs roughtly $1.7 USD. In each home you’ll typically find a water dispenser so that there is cool drinking water readily at hand.
After a short 10 minute drive you be out of paved roads and into the jungle to exprience the Mayan Riviera at its best. These are just some of the daily routines of locals that you might get to observe on your ATV tour. Playa del Carmen is a rapidly growing town in the heart of the Mayan Riviera. The area has a very international flair as people come to work in tourism from all over the country and all over the world!
We make it a point to always go through our safety protocol before leaving on an ATV tour. This way we make sure that our participants feel comfortable and confident driving their 4WD. ✌️🏎🌴☀️
To make your 4WD experience an enjoyable and safe one, we provide helmets, bandanas to protect your mouth and warning jackets to make you more visible to traffic. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and clothes. Also bring your sunglasses to protect your eyes from dust and bugs along the way.
If you have booked the Jungle & Cenote ATV tour also don’t forget your swim wear. You can either put them on already or there are (very rustic) changing facilities in the jungle before you enter the cave system.
When you drive your 4WD, your guide won’t be able to talk to you. So, they will communicate with you through a series of easy to memorize hand signals… 👆🖖👌🤘
These hand signals will be explained to you before you leave. In case you have more than one ATV driving in your tour you will be asked to repeat the guide’s hand signals for the drivers behind you.
You will only drive a very short amount of time on paved roads where traffic rules apply. Our guide will look out for you and wait at every turn to keep the group together.
Welcome to Wheelie Trail’s ATV tour! Get away from the tourist crowds in Playa del Carmen. Join our quad excursion and experience this unique off the beaten path adventure in Riviera Maya.
We offer a private quad excursion and an unforgettable visit to a pristine underground Cenote. Our reviews don’t lie: this is the best ATV tour in town!
We offer two types of ATV tour experiences in the Riviera Maya. Both will take you into the local jungle just 10 minutes outside of Playa del Carmen:
ATV Jungle Explorer
ATV Jungle & Cenote
ATV Jungle Explorer Tour
Quad excursions rarely come alone. When you look for an off-road tour in Playa del Carmen you’ll soon find that tour companies typically combine them with other activities. For example ziplining, swimming or snorkeling, etc. Beware, there are many companies where you drive your ATV in huge groups and you will not be able to drive at your pace.
We are actually the only company in the Mayan Riviera that offers ATV driving as a “stand-alone” activity. So, if you are looking for an excursion that only involves quad driving in the jungle, look no further! The ATV Jungle Explorer is for you. Plus our tours are private. No need to worry about a dozen other drivers. We’ll go as fast (or slow) as you feel comfortable with.
ATV Jungle & Cenote Tour
If you are looking for a combined activity we also offer the ATV Jungle & Cenote tour. You will again drive through the jungle and you’ll also see the wonders of an amazing local underground cenote and take a refreshing dip before you hop on your quad again.
Which ever option you prefer for your ATV adventure remember that all our tours are guided and private. Our guide will take care of you so you can drive at the pace you are comfortable with. Plus, he shows you the best paths through the jungle to fit your skills. Our quad excursion is a fun activity for advanced drivers and beginners. Families, couples and small groups love the private and personalized experience.
